BYU Takes 2nd Place in the First Annual University Rover Competition!

During the summer of 2007, I participated in a BYU team that took 2nd place at the Mars Society-

sponsored University Rover Competition. Held at the Mars Desert Research Station near

Hanksville, Utah, this year's competition included University of Nevada-Reno, Penn State,

and, of course, Brigham Young University.

The competition required each team to build a remotely controlled and self-powered rover

that would be able to complete both an engineering and a scientific task. The engineering
