What more can I say?

29 June 2005 - So it really has been a while since I've written in this thing... However, I do have some new news on the firearms side of things. I'm currently working as a Ballistics Lab Technition. Trust me, that sounds way cooler than it really is. All day long I shoot guns. Well, actually I handload bullets and then shoot them in guns. This job is really more of an internship that an actuall job. I'm learning tons about firearms, the way they work and everything else about them. I can take apart a Remington 700 action down to little, itty-bitty pieces. No promises on putting it back together, but I do a great job of taking them apart...

Actually, about the most exciting thing that has happened has been shooting the .50 BMG. That was a religious experience. The largest 'small arms' weapon available to the public, shooting a bullet that measures almost 2" in a cartridge with an overall length of 5.2". When we shoot to test function, we shoot straight down into a watertank which causes the bullets to expand and allows us to make sure that they will function properly when they are shot at whatever you're trying to eliminate. Anyway, when I got to shoot it into the tank, it lifted me off the ground. Literally. Pretty incredible. I would highly recommend shooting the .50 to anyone who ever gets the chance.
