Text Box: ARAC is an organization of young African refugee artists.
We were founded in order to provide mutual support, to further our skills as artists, and to enhance our ability to tell our stories for the benefit of all. In June, 2007 ARAC hosted a 30-day workshop at Kakuma refugee camp in northern Kenya. Even though our limited resources permitted the enrollment of only twenty artists out a large number of applicants. the workshop was of great importance to all those who could attend. A second workshop will be held this summer and, we hope, in future summers as well. The world of art helps people see life differently, for both artists
and those who see their work. Art truly has the potential to change lives, and this is never more true than for refugee artists and for those exposed to their powerful storytelling.  I know because it has changed my own life and continues to do so. I hope you might consider us for a donation.  ARAC will be most grateful for even small amounts of aid.  We depend on your generosity.

ARAC seeks to address these issues by:
1. Providing organizational support to refugee artists in Kakuma.
2. Providing financial support through foundation and individual donors.
3. Emphasizing artistic and endeavors to support the mental health of refugee artists and the community.
4.Providing encouragement and morale support by broadening contact and line of communication between artists in the camp and those resettled elsewhere.
Once an informal club, ARAC members are organizing as a non-profit and request funding and support from state-side communities.

  Text Box:   ARAC seeks:
Ø      A supporting/ mentor organization to assist in fundraising and dispersal of funds true to ARAC’s mission.
Ø     Funding for material provisions to Kakuma artists.
Ø      Venues and partnerships state-side for collaborative exhibits.
Ø      Community partnerships for the educational component.
Short and long term objectives of ARAC include our desire to:
· Furnish refugees in the U.S. and in Africa with art supplies
· Enable more refugees to share their experience through art.  Provide a voice for the plight of refugees around the world.
· Transport works of art from African refugees at Kakuma to the U.S. for joint exhibitions. Organize exhibitions at which this and other artwork can be displayed
· Establish a means whereby received funds from purchases can, in turn, fund similar future projects
